FORGOT YOUR DETAILS?

Project S.A.M. Sigmas Against Meningitis

Greetings Brothers,

As a part of the continuation of our conversation on the dangers of Meningitis B at the 2016 Eastern Regional Conference, we have developed a tool kit to help chapters facilitate this conversation in your local communities. The main focus of this program is to educate parents and students on the disease and give them the information to make an informed decision on getting vaccinated. On this page we have developed a tool kit that will be provided via links on the Project S.A.M. page. Chapters will have access to information from the National Meningitis Foundation and other institutions to provide factual information on the disease.

For our collegiate Brothers you have been provided with a form letter that you can customize with your chapter’s and school’s information, asking where students can get vaccinated in the area, whether it’s on or off campus, along with asking if your chapter can host a health care initiative program as a part of the official welcome back to school programing done on the campus. The rest of the information provided in the tool kit is information on the meningitis b strain of the virus, and how quickly it can become deadly. Through handouts on discussing the rapid escalation in the symptoms, to a PowerPoint presentation that was provided by activist and speaker Andy Marso, during the regional conference detailing his experience and fight for survival when he was affected. We will also include a testimonial video from other survivors as well as a website that will help chapters locate local experts who will come to your event and speak for no charge.

Brothers of the Eastern Region, we are taking the lead on this very important issue, not just within Sigma, but amongst all fraternal organizations. Bringing awareness to this very serious life altering disease can literally save lives. As we move forward with this program, we will continue to develop more tools to help make the roll out and implementation of these programs easier and more effective.

Fraternally,

Bro Marcus A Daly, Sr
Director of Publicity
