Brothers of the Eastern Region,
On behalf of the Eastern Regional Board and all appointed officers I extend holiday greetings to all Brothers (and families), Chapters and Sigma Betas of the Region.
2014 has been an incredible year for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. We started off the year commemorating 100 years of service to humanity with celebrations in all seven regions. The January regional events included service programs, social events and other activities celebrating our rich history. It would all conclude with the Centennial Founders’ Day Gala, which was simulcast from the Renaissance Hotel Downtown in Washington, DC to the other six regions. The January celebrations helped set the tone for the remainder of the year, and it was only the beginning.
Throughout the year brothers and chapters have continued to raise the bar in the area of service. Your hard work and continued commitment to the vision of our beloved Founders is a fitting way for us to begin the next century of service. This monumental moment in our history is not a time to rest on past accomplishments, but to strive to work even harder to serve our communities going forward.
The yearlong celebration continued as we all gathered in our nation’s capital for the Centennial Celebration in July. Brothers assembled from all corners of the globe to continue where we left off in January. The gathering at Howard University for the unveiling of the Memorial Monument was unforgettable. As we were joined by our sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. to honor our rich history, it was an overwhelming feeling of brotherly and sisterly love. It is difficult to put into words the exciting atmosphere on the campus that day. The Founders would have been proud to witness the sea of Blue & White gathered on campus. Brothers left Washington DC, recommitted to serving the community and furthering their vision.
While we continue to celebrate our legacy it is also important for us to remain focused on the pulse of our communities. Recent events across the country remind us daily that our communities need us more than ever. From western plains to eastern hills the men of Sigma must continue to answer the call to serve.
As we navigate through this holiday season it is important to take a moment to spend time with family and friends and be thankful for all that we have. It is also important to remember those who are not as fortunate and lend a hand when you can.
We thank you for your continued support as we work to serve this Region and the Fraternity to the best of our ability. 2015 will be a great year as we begin the bi-centennial march. Grace and peace to you and yours during this holiday season! Best wishes for a safe and blessed New Year.
