GREETINGS,
Brothers of the Eastern Region, I extend greetings on behalf of the Eastern Regional Board. As stated in the Fraternity’s Mission Statement, “The Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma are the Fraternity’s most valuable resource and strength. They are the primary means by which Phi Beta Sigma objectives will be achieved”. The Board is committed to working with the membership to move this region and fraternity forward.
While we continue to navigate through this transition period, we ask for your patience, continued support and feedback. Your feedback is crucial to our success. Working together towards a common vision is essential as we labor to improve all aspects of the Region.
In an effort to better serve the local chapters a call was sent out to all chapters for those brothers interested in serving the Region on the state level. These brothers will serve as an extension of this Board, and play an important role as we move forward. Upon completing the necessary training these brothers will be equipped to serve the needs of the local chapters. We ask that you to work with them in an effort to improve communication and conduct the business of Sigma.
As we encourage participation from the membership we recognize the key role communication will play in that effort. We are working to increase and expand on the communication tools currently at our disposal, while also exploring new options. The launching of the PBS Eastern Regional Director’s Corner on Facebook was the first step in expanding our reach. We encourage all brothers to visit the page to discuss important issues and share events and information. In future months you will also see improvements to our regional website. As we incorporate changes we look forward to your feedback in an effort to ensure the site is both informative and user friendly.
While the summer season is often a slow time for many chapters it will be a busy time for the Board. Last month we had an opportunity to engage brothers throughout the Region at our first board meeting. The meeting was well attended and we were able to set a tone for the Region as we move forward. In the coming weeks we will return to our regional conference calls and convene several training sessions to ensure we are ready to conduct business when chapters are back in full swing this fall. In August we will join brothers from across the globe in Charlotte, NC for the SERIOUS SIGMA LEADERSHIP SUMMIT. We hope to see you there engaging our leadership and discussing the enhancing and positioning of the Sigma Brand.
